Honey bees not only make honey, but they provide a very important service. They pollinate all kinds of plants, and without that pollination, those plants, including food plants, won't grow. But just because the honey bees are beneficial doesn't mean that they don't end up creating hives in really annoying places. Bees are going to build hives in places that they feel are safe, are near food, and the bees can make their hives in all kinds of places. Those places can include the hollows of trees and inside your walls. If you do have a beehive somewhere on your property and you don't want it there, then you need to get the hive relocated. You can call an exterminator, but generally, they will recommend a specialist to move the hive instead of killing it, because of the beneficial aspects of honey bees. So, what is the process of relocating your hive?

Identification 

Before anything happens, the beekeeper or expert is going to want to make sure that the insects you have are honey bees. The beekeeper may ask you to send them pictures of the hive or swarm, and of any insects, you see coming and going. The reason for this is that the beekeeper wants to know what kind of insect you have because they don't handle wasps. If the beekeeper is coming from a long distance, they want to be sure that it's going to be honey bees at your house. 

Removal

The actual removal process can also have a lot of steps. For one thing, the beekeeper may have to actually cut into a structure so that they can access the hive. They are going to do as little as possible, but the goal is to not just move the bees, but also remove the combs and the honey. Those things will give the hive a head start in their new home, but if the combs and honey are left in your house, then they can attract other creatures to move into the space where the hive used to be. The beekeeper can also suggest ways that you can keep new hives from getting into the voids and setting up a new home. 

If you have a honey bee hive or swarm at your house, you want to make sure that you get them removed. Honey bees are beneficial and relatively harmless. Honey bee relocation will let the bees continue to do their job and help plants grow in another area.
